The history of a major Czech tea producer began when the state-owned company Balírny Obchodu Praha established a plant for food and tea packaging in Jemnice. The name JEMČA originated from the abbreviation for „jemnický čaj“ which means „tea from Jemnice“. In 2006, Jemča was acquired by a large global player in the beverage market - the British company Tetley. Under the new name Tata Global Beverages Czech, Jemča won many awards on the Czech market. In 2020, Jemča returned to Czech hands - the company was bought by Dr. Müller Pharma - a leading Czech manufacturer of medicines, medical devices, food supplements and cosmetics. With the new owner comes new opportunities and goals and therefore Jemča contributes to its further development by investing in new technologies for new packaging formats and increasing the volume of production for the Czech and export markets.
